Several NGOs are working within the area of GBV in the three countries. Most of them are working on anti trafficking activities; others are working on domestic violence, sex work, gender legislation, social services for victims and rehabilitation for offenders. But their efforts are often not coordinated and short-lived. Efforts are sometimes duplicated and resources are wasted. Dialogue between relevant actors dealing with the issue is sporadic, despite a number of initiatives to promote greater coordination. This is also true for coordination and cooperation within and between national machineries and public institutions as well as between those and NGOs.
For this purpose, the Project aims to establish mechanisms for coordination, monitoring and cooperation between all actors working on gender issues and create inter-country networks among agencies working on GBV.
